Before Mercury Plastics acquired it many years ago, the screen print division was an independent self-standing business. Now, fueled by both considerable capacity and competence, it has the ability to turn out quality jobs on a timely basis.
For high volume applications, Mercury utilizes a 14-station, 6-color, UV carousel-styled press capable of working with sheet sizes up to 38” X 50”. The department also has 8 other flatbed screening lines with bed sizes up to 52” X 80”. We work with UV-curing and conventional inks, and print 4 color process and spot color images on a variety of substrates including:
*Caution: there may be adhesion limitations with printing on over-baked powder coated metals
Mercury is able to perform first or second surface printing, and easily flood coats to simulate many metallic looks or to match countless basic PMS colors. Of greater skill is the department’s ability to print complex patterns such as faux wood-grain on styrene and a frost effect on clear PETG panels. The Print Department’s best demonstration of talent, however, is found in its work with distortion print and formed display parts – click on the separate capabilities section for a full description of this process and representative photos.
Most recently, Mercury has expanded into digital printing and automatic cutting as well. This additional capability provides competitive cost options and speed for markets and situations that demand either or both.
